South America’s Iguazu Falls are one of the world’s natural wonders, and they comprise the largest waterfall system on Earth. The 275 falls are so impressive that when Eleanor Roosevelt visited them as America’s First Lady in 1944, she simply said, “Poor Niagara.”
Join us as we travel to Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay to visit one of the New Seven Natural Wonders on assignment for ABC-TV’s The Daily Refresh! Click to watch, then continue reading to learn more about Iguazu Falls.

Because Iguazu Falls are shared by Argentina and Brazil, you’ll want to visit the national parks in both countries for the full waterfall experience. It can take several hours to cross the border and get through immigration each time, unless you’re traveling with an officially licensed tour guide. They have a special “quick pass” lane in both countries, which means border crossings take mere minutes.
Crossing back and forth into Paraguay is relatively quick and simple, particularly if you fill out the immigration form on the government websites in advance. We crossed the border on foot and had an Uber driver take us to Itaipu Dam and Monday Falls, and it was inexpensive to hire him for the whole afternoon with multiple stops via the app.
