While you’re in Philadelphia, check out some of our favorite spots:

  • Elfreth’s Alley — America’s oldest residential street, which was first developed in 1703, is just around the corner from the Betsy Ross House
  • Franklin Institute — Lose yourself in the immersive experience of the Fels Planetarium and be mesmerized by Foucault’s pendulum, which appears to change direction throughout the day as it tells time using the Earth’s rotation
  • Independence Hall — This UNESCO World Heritage Site is where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were debated and adopted by the founders of the United States; it’s located across the street from the Liberty Bell and the country’s first presidential house
  • JFK Plaza — The plaza is also known as Love Park for the iconic statue installed during America’s bicentennial in 1976
  • McGillin’s Old Ale House — Legendary bartender John Doyle has been pulling pints here for 50 years, but Philly’s longest continuously operating tavern has been open since 1860
  • Philadelphia City Hall — America’s largest municipal building boasts beautiful architecture and is next door to Dilworth Park, where you’ll find regular makers markets and other seasonal events
  • Philadelphia Museum of Art — Do your own Rocky run up the stairs to this impressive museum, then pose for a selfie with the statue of Stallone
  • Reading Terminal Market — One of America’s largest and oldest public markets offers a taste of the world that represents Philadelphia’s vibrant immigrant culture in a National Historic Landmark built in 1893
