Michael’s latest contribution to Atlas Obscura, the website for the world’s most interesting and unusual sights to see, features one of the best-preserved Roman ruins on the planet. And it’s located somewhere you might not expect.
During our recent visit to Syria, we toured the black amphitheater of Bosra, which was built with volcanic stone during the second century of the modern era.

Our incredible tour company, Golden Team Syria, even arranged for a professional opera singer from Damascus to perform for us on the 2,000-year-old stage. Talk about a breathtaking experience!
