The postcards we sent to Wanda from China were experiences of their own, including this one of the terracotta warriors of Xi’an.
While it’s relatively easy to imagine each statue as a person, since they are life-sized and feature distinctly different faces and features, this card took the imagery one step further by showing them in full human color.
And the postcard station at Xi’an was an interactive treat, featuring dozens of stamps and ink pads you could use to decorate your cards with line drawings of art from the third century during Qin Shi Huang’s reign.

We also sent postcards to Wanda from Zhangjiajie and Tianmen Mountain, and we got to watch the postal clerk hand cancel them with a special seal and mallet.
While we search for postcards in every country we visit, they’re often hard to find, and stamps and post offices can be even harder to track down. But the major Chinese tourist attractions make it easy on both counts. Expensive but easy!
